Well, I just dropped $2,000 on the VISA to fund the majority of my MEI ticket. I’ve been trying to figure out a cost effective way to build the required multi engine time and get the MEI ticket. I really think that the MEI is my ticket to building more multi engine time.
After some extensive research, I found a place that will rent me a BE76 for $153/hour wet. I have an instructor who is a personal friend, who will ride with me and run me through all the MEI stuff. I’ll do that for 11 to 12 hours or so (need to build multi PIC time anyway), then I’ll jump over with a company instructor and just get the loose ends tied up and finalize the last 2-3 hours, then I’ll bust out the checkride and be done with it.
Then comes figuring out a way to pay it off. It won’t be too bad. I’ll just need to make more money…. somehow. I’ll do some more work for my bro.
When I am done, I’ll have 30 or so hours of multi, and will be well on my way towards getting the remaining 70 or so required by the regional carriers.
Wednesday and Thursday of next week are slated for multi time building. Then, the following week, I’ll shoot for the checkride. Perhaps Wednesday the 4th.
If I play my cards right I can have it done inside of 2-3 weeks, hopefully before Sun-N-Fun.
