This week will potentially hold another set of exciting ventures. To make a long story short, I’ve been told to expect a call this week requesting an interview leading into my first potential airline job. I am keeping my fingers crossed. Part of me doesn’t want to take the job because it would introduce the whole “away from home” thing that airlines pilots deal with. I’d be into commuting and all of that. Its a similar uncertainty that I felt before taking the instructor job. Either way, it is a stepping stone into some pretty incredible flying compared to what I’ve done so far. So, if the job becomes mine for the taking, I will take it and experience it first hand. From Cessna 172s to ERJ-145s or CRJ’s. Thats quite a large step to take. I am ready to take the step should the opportunity arise for me.
Tomorrow, I am flying the Duchess again. This time with “Joe”, one of the company instructors. He’ll run me through the paces and give me a good idea of where I stand as compared to where I need to stand to take the checkride. If I get the “thumbs up”, then I am going to call the examiner and schedule a checkride at the earliest possible time. GIT-R-DONE!
In addition to that, I am cramming for the ATP written test. Word is that if an interview comes my way, I will have to sit and take a 50 question ATP test. I want to be prepared for that should it happen. I need to read about the airline in question so I will be well versed on what to expect come interview day – that is, should it come at all.
In addition to all of this, I need to fulfill my usual obligations at the flight school. That is where I make my little bit of money afterall.
Quite a lot on my plate this week, I’ll keep you informed.
