Tonight is my first accounting test in quite some time, Business Taxation. I’ve got another class test on Thursday, followed by another on Monday.

I always get slightly nervous before tests because many of these accounting tests are like mini-books they drop in front of you. Multiple choice – HA! After the initial feeling of overwhelm as the clock ticks by and the pen first hits the paper, typically things flow fairly well from that point. At least that has been my experience.

I would tend to say that for this test tonight (my immediate problem as I will study for the others more in depth as they come), I am as prepared as anyone can be. There is nothing that I know that I don’t know. This doesn’t mean that there isn’t something I don’t know. But, I have done all the homework twice, 4 practice quizzes (only mistakes made are sloppy stuff because I am flying through them), etc.

So, I may look at my books once or twice more before test time, but at this point my grade is likely already in the bag – fated so to speak, based on the preparation I have put in. The dead horse is beat beyond recognition and I am scratching my head on what else to study.

Yet still, I will likely not score a 100%, but will get another still decent grade. The amount of detail to be remembered in these tests is stifling, especially a tax code test. Even with a thorough working understanding, taking a test under time pressure with nothing but a pen and a calculator is nearly always a recipe for missing some minor mundane detail. It is the nature of the beast.

Wish me luck!
